November is Family Violence Prevention Month. This often includes, but is not limited to, situations such as abuse between spouses/partners and elder abuse.
How can you help? Take some time this month to learn about and recognize abuse/abusive behaviour. Be aware of warning signs and stay connected with friends and family, especially during these times of physical distancing. Most importantly, seek help if you or someone you know are in need of it.
Family violence is a crime – call 911 for situations in which there is immediate danger.
In Alberta, you can call the Family Violence Info Line: 310-1818 to get help anonymously and in more than 170 languages.
